Capturing the ride with Brendan Mansfield

Photographer and longboarder Brendan Mansfield sent over some photos of team rider Sean Woolery he captured in California on a recent longboarding session and we decided to ask Brendan a couple questions about the photos he captured.

Q. Where was the hills you were riding that day?
A. The hills we were riding were some local favorites in the Santa Barbara Mountains.

Q. What was the longboarding session like that day?
A. The session was fun. Blue skies and sunshine with visibility letting you see over the ocean for miles and miles. Everyone was in a good mood and there weren't any falls which is always good. We had a friend that didn't skate come with us and he shuttled us up and down the mountain, so nobody had to sit out on runs, which everyone was stoked on.

Q. Who was riding that day?
A. Ryan Bishop, Jordan Crosby and Sean Woolery were skating that day.

Q. What was it like capturing photos in that area?
A. I love shooting up in the local mountains because its so scenic and there's always awesome backdrops for shots. Towards sunset the lighting gets really fun to work with which is another bonus for me.

Q. What is your favorite thing about capturing longboarding photos?
A. My favorite part of shooting skate photography is getting that one money shot from a session. You might take 200 shots in a session, but just that one shot you capture makes it worth all the effort throughout the day. I love showing the skaters a shot of them and seeing how stoked they are on it!

Q. What gear were you using to capture those photos?
A. I was shooting with a Canon T3i and a Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3. Nothing fancy but it can still get some great shots.

Q. Do you have a photo website? Or instagram we can send readers to for more photos?
A. If you want to see more of my photos, I post most of my pictures on Instagram @Brendan.Mansfield

Thanks again for sending over the photos Brendan and we hope to see more in the future!
